Facebook tipped to launch its take on Clubhouse on Monday

As with many tech companies, Facebook is reportedly the latest company to introduce its take on Clubhouse and other audio-only social media offerings like podcasts. The social network will reportedly unveil these new features on Monday, April 19.

Some of these audio-only offerings include:

  • An unnamed, audio-only version of Rooms, which was its answer to Zoom
  • Users being able to share audio snippets on the news feed
  • A Clubhouse-like product that allows people to listen to and interact with speakers on a "virtual stage"
  • And a Facebook and Spotify partnership to drive podcast discovery

It isn't sure what Facebook plans to do with Spotify beyond "flagging podcasts for its users and sending them to Spotify." but, at least, we don't have to wait long to find out.

It isn't clear when these "social audio" products will be released either. Vox speculates the audio-version of Rooms will be the first one available right away, while the other products "may not show up, even in beta form, until later this spring."
