ASUS Zenfone 8 goes compact
The standard ASUS Zenfone 8 model loses the Flip Camera of its predecessors. Instead, ASUS wants to appeal to a broader audience with a more conventional smartphone design. Love it or hate it; it's here for now. But what's great about this handset is it gets top-of-the-line specs but in a smaller device.
It has a 5.9-inch Samsung AMOLED display with a 20:9 aspect ratio, 2,400 x 1,080 FHD+ resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, and 240Hz touch sampling rate. It's protected by a Corning Gorilla Glass Victus and IP65/IP68 water and dust resistance.
The Zenfone 8 runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 5G chipset with Adreno 660 GPU, Android 11 with ZenUI 8, up to 16GB LPDDR5 RAM, and up to 256GB of storage. The battery is on the smaller side at 4,000mAh, but it supports 30-watt HyperCharge and Quick Charge 4.0.
As for its camera setup, there is a Sony IMX686 64-megapixel with optical image stabilization and a Sony IMX363 12-megapixel ultra-wide sensor that supports macro photography at the back. In front, there's a Sony IMX663 camera.
The ASUS Zenfone 8 is available in Obsidian Black and Horizon Silver, with pricing starting at EUR 599 (around CAD 877). You can read more about the ASUS Zenfone 8 Flip here.
