Huawei launches curved MateView GT gaming monitor, flat MateView
Huawei is bringing its new monitors to a broader market by introducing them during the HarmonyOS 2.0 launch.
First up is the Huawei MateView GT, which is the company's first gaming monitor. This 34-inch ultra-wide LCD panel is built for multimedia use, which includes video editing. It has a 21:9 aspect ratio, 3,440 x 1,440 resolution, 350 nits of brightness, 4,000:1 contrast ratio, 1500R curvature, and 165Hz refresh rate. It supports gaming features like Crosshairs and Dark Field Control, where it crushes overexposed and dark areas to help you locate opponents faster.
It supports HDR10, 90% DCI-P3 coverage, 121% sRGB coverage, and it is calibrated to deltaE < 2. It comes with a DisplayPort 1.4 to help support 165Hz at 1440p, but you can use the two HDMI 2.0 ports for lower refresh rates. It also has two USB-C ports, with one used for power.
Huawei builds in a soundbar with stereo speakers (2x 2.5W) and two mics or a 3.5mm audio jack for voice chats. Of course, the soundbar has customizable RGB-backlit touch control to adjust volumes.
Its stand height is adjusted by 110mm, and you can tilt the display -5º-20º. It has a standard VESA100 mount and a powerful 135W adapter, too.
The Huawei MateView GT will be available in Western, Central and Eastern Europe, the Nordics, Russia, Japan, the Asia-Pacific region, Latin America, the Middle East, Africa, and other areas.
If you don't need a gaming monitor, there is the flat 28.2-inch MateView with an IPS LCD panel, 3:2 aspect ratio, and 3,840 x 2,560 resolution. It's sharper and brighter at 500 nits with a DisplayHDR 400 certification and flicker-free DC dimming. Contrast isn't as good at 1,200:1.
But it still supports 10-bit colour depth, covers 98% of DCI-P3 and 100% of sRGB, and is calibrated to deltaE < 2.
The MateView can become the central hub of your desk. It has USB-C with video in support and offers 65W charging, allowing you to plug in your phone or laptop with a single cable. It also provides an optional OneHop wireless connection for Huawei handsets with Kirin 980 or later and EMUI 12.0 or later for wirelessly mirroring your phone's screen.
You can hook up a desktop via mini DisplayPort 1.2 and an HDMI 2.0 port. The latter is limited to 50Hz at full resolution, though. Use the DisplayPort or USB-C to run this monitor at 60Hz. It also comes with two USB-A 3.0 ports, and it can become a KVM switch for a plugged-in keyboard and mouse.
The MateView has better speakers (2x 5W) and two mics that can pick up your voice from as far as 4m. It also has a 3.5mm combo jack. This monitor has a 135W power adapter, making it possible for the USB-C port to output 65W.
We don't have pricing and availability details for either product yet.
