Twitter axes ephemeral Fleets feature

You can send your last "Fleet" on Twitter on August 3. The social network has raised the white flag on its answer to Instagram Stories, which, as we know, Instagram also copied from Snapchat. The company admitted that not many people were not as interested in the feature as it hoped. 

In a blog post, Ilya Brown, Twitter's head of product, wrote that "Fleets are mostly used by people who are already Tweeting to amplify their own Tweets," and it wasn't encouraging people apprehensive of tweeting in the first place. 

He added, "We'll explore more ways to address what holds people back from participating on Twitter. And for the people who already are Tweeting, we're focused on making this better for you."
