LG Tone Free FP9, FP8 have self-cleaning buds and spatial audio by Meridian Audio
LG's newest true wireless earbuds are additions to the company's self-cleaning Tone-Free line. The Tone Free FP9 and FP8 come with a charging case that uses UV light to clean the ear tips and reduce the chance of inner ear infections. According to the company, the UV-C built into the cases are designed to eliminate bacteria on the buds' speaker mesh by 99.9% in just five minutes.
These buds feature Headphone Spatial Processing from Meridian Audio, a company LG has collaborated with throughout the years for audio tuning. They're designed to create a more immersive soundstage to make it seem like music is coming from all directions. It will work alongside 3D Sound Stage, which also expands the soundstage and mixes music to create a similar effect.
The FP9 and FP8 also come equipped with active noise cancellation, IPX4-rated waterproofing, and 24 hours total battery time (10 hours in the buds, plus an additional 14 hours from the case) with quick charging that gives you an hour of listening from a five-minute charge.
Their stems are 4.4mm shorter than the previous model, and they now come with three mics on each earbud for a better calling experience. LG is introducing a new Whispering Mode that lets you hold the right earbud close to your mouth and have it act as a dedicated mic.
These new LG Tone Free models will come in Charcoal Black, Pearl White, and Haze Gold. LG hasn't announced pricing, but it's coming out this month.
