Samsung debuts Galaxy Watch4 series
Samsung refreshes its smartwatches with the new Galaxy Watch4 and Galaxy Watch4 Classic. The former offers a more modern, minimalist look, while the latter brings the rotating bezel into a sleek silhouette. Both offer a thinner design than previous generations.
The company was able to slim down the smartwatches by introducing a new 3-in-1 sensor, the Samsung BioActive Sensor. This solitary chipset can keep track of three health metrics: Optical Heart Rate Sensor (PPG), Electrical Heart Sensor (ECG), and Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis Sensor (BIA). While this single sensor is smaller, the Galaxy Watch4's new algorithm still allows the watches to measure your vitals accurately.
The Galaxy Watch4 series can monitor health data like your blood pressure, detect an AFib irregular heartbeat, and measure your blood oxygen level. And, now, they can also calculate your body composition, which provides insight like skeletal muscle, basal metabolic rate, body fat, BMI, body water, and more.
These new smartwatches get advanced sleep management options, including a new snoring detection feature. They can analyze your sleep habits to ensure you get better quality rest.
Samsung mentioned most of the same information we have on Wear OS 3 and One UI Watch experiences you can expect. There's also more seamless interaction between these smartwatches and those other Galaxy devices.
Unsurprisingly, the Galaxy Watch4 series runs on the new Exynos W920 chipset, which helps with smoother scrolling, multitasking, and better transitions. These wearables get 16GB of storage and have battery lives of up to 40 hours. You can get up to 10 hours after a 30-minute charge or wait for a complete recharge in under two hours.
