Legible Launches Accessibility-focused Web-Based eReader

Legible aims to improve accessibility to books for everyone. Designed by book lovers, it allows readers to enjoy their next favourite book using any web browser. Being web-enabled -- instead of relying on an app -- ensures that service is completely device-agnostic, meaning it does not need to worry about varying screen sizes for compatibility. The platform is optimized for smartphones and allows users to adjust fonts, text size, colour, and contrast, making it easy to read and navigate. With 96 percent of the Canadian population having access to the internet and around 30 million smartphones in use across the county, the service is accessible to a significant number of people. 

Legible is also consciously making its growing library home to all voices. Readers can find books from authors of all backgrounds and beliefs, from LGBTQ2S+ to indigenous, and everything in between. Books can be in multiple languages, including those of the First Nations. Legible includes a service called The Librarian, a sophisticated AI that helps readers find their next reading adventure, and provides a list of books the reader may enjoy, whether it be for entertainment, comfort, or comedy. It will introduce users to new authors and help them discover new places, spaces, and things about themselves. 

Legible's mission is to make sure everyone, regardless of location, age or demographic, has access to books. This mission includes giving authors the opportunity to connect with a larger audience that goes beyond their community, region, or country. The company has also launched the Legible Foundation, which aims to increase literacy and share the magic and wonder of books worldwide.
