This is an Android alternative to Apple's MagSafe
realme, a Chinese smartphone brand owned by BBK Electronics (the conglomerate that also owns brands like OPPO and OnePlus), has just introduced its take on Apple MagSafe. The company has just launched MagDart, a magnetic wireless charging system ready to take on Apple's offering. MagDart leaps ahead by offering 50W magnetic charging, leveraging Realme's 65W SuperDart charging tech and an air-cooling system for maximum performance.
According to the company, the charging speed here should be comparable to its 50W SuperDart wired charger. The realme Flash concept phone armed with a 4,500mAh battery can charge the phone from zero to 100% in under an hour.
The MagDart charger is on the bulky side, though, so realme's solution is to introduce a 15W MagDart charging pad that's just a bit thinner than the MagSafe's 15W charging pad. realme was able to slim down the design by having the circuit board hidden away in the plug. This also means the charging coil is cooler, which can increase efficiency.
Aside from these two accessories, realme also has a MagDart power bank, which doubles as a wireless charging stand; MagDart Beauty Light, which is a flip-up ring light that takes advantage of the phone's reverse wireless charging feature; and a MagDart Wallet, which can hold up to three credit cards in its vegan leather pockets like the MagSafe Wallet, but this accessory also has an aluminum kickstand.
While the realme Flash seems like a concept device, MagDart is coming to an existing realme smartphone via a case. The realme GT will get a MagDart-compatible case that will allow the device to support the charging system. We don't know when these accessories will come out, but we're happy to see the technology come to Android.
