Netflix to raise prices for its standard, premium tiers in Canada

Netflix in North America will be a bit more expensive, at least for those who want HD and 4K viewing on the service. In Canada, the standard plan now costs $16.49, about $1.50 more than its previous cost. Meanwhile, the premium tier jumps from around $19 to $20.99.

The standard plan offers viewers HD viewing of Netflix content and two screens watching at once, while the premium plan offers 4K streaming and four simultaneous screens. What hasn't changed is the basic $9.99 plan, which doesn't support HD viewing and one user at a time. The streaming service says it'll inform current members via email 30 days before the price hike affects them (unless they change plans), while new members will be affected by this change from the get-go.
