HP introduces Fortis G10, first 14" rugged Chromebook with 4G LTE
HP recently launched a new line of laptops built for blended learning environments. One of the new machines is what the company says is the first 14-inch rugged Chromebook for education that comes with 4G LTE.
The HP Fortis G10 Chromebook is purpose-built for cloud-native learning. It runs on Intel Celeron or Intel Pentium processors and has a 180-degree lay-flat hinge. And for online, collaborative learning, there's an 88-degree wide-viewing angle HD camera and dual mics. For privacy purposes, the Fortis G10 Chromebook also has a Privacy Camera. And its Chrome Education Upgrade makes it easy to manage and deploy these machines. It has up to 128GB of storage and up to 8GB of RAM. Display options go up to 1080p resolution for the 14-inch display.
As part of the Fortis line, this laptop is strengthened to handle drops and spills and keep the keys in place, with a spill resistance of up to 350ml. Its textured surface makes it easier for students of all ages to grip the machine. The reinforced power and USB-C ports limit damage from accidentally tugged cables, while the mechanically reinforced corners and co-moulded rubber trims absorb shocks. Reinforced hinges reduce the stress on these parts from repeated opening and closing.
Household disinfecting and cleaning wipes can be used to wipe down the chassis, keyboard, and display. There is also a new metal shield that protects the battery from external damage.
The HP Fortis 14-inch G10 Chromebook is available now for a starting price of US$349 (around CA$435 converted).
HP also introduced the Fortis G9 Q Chromebook, which runs on a Snapdragon 7c chipset. HP claims it is its thinnest and lightest Fortis laptop, built for portability with a 4G LTE option. This 11-inch laptop gets up to 8GB of RAM and 84GB of storage. It also has a 47WHR battery with fast-charging support. There is no pricing for the G9 yet, but it's expected to launch in June.
