The Bev is Black+Decker's pod machine for alcoholic drinks

Around the time that Keurig and Anheuser-Busch shuttered its Drinkworks Home Bar, Black+Decker introduced the Bev. You can consider it as a pod machine for cocktails. If you aren't interested in mixing your own drinks, this machine might be for you. 

It has five stainless steel straws that can suck alcohol out of five standard 750ml liquor bottles. The Bev offers a less messy option since there's no need to turn the bottles upside-down. 

Once you load it up with your choice of liquor (like tequila, vodka, rum, whiskey, and gin), you can then fill the water container, pop in a pod with the juices and bitters, and adjust the strength of the drink with a press of a button. 

An internal pump draws out digitally measured quantities of each liquid. The Bev uses pressure to shove these into the capsule and mix them. There are valves to direct excess liquor back to each bottle uncontaminated. The finished cocktail is poured into your glass, and then the whole system flushes the pipes with air and water to clean itself out. This entire process takes under 30 seconds to happen.

Black+Decker teamed up with Bartesian to use its existing pods. The Bev scans a basic barcode to identify the capsule you're putting in. 

The Black+Decker Bev is launching in the spring for US$300 (around CA$380 converted), while the Bartesian pods cost US$15 (~CA$20) for a pack of six.
