Clubhouse gets an in-room chat function

What might be seen as counterintuitive to Clubhouse's original offering is coming to the app. The company is adding a text chat function to the social audio app. As you may have seen in Zoom calls or Discord, those who don't want to speak can write out their opinions. As Engadget pointed out, the feature can come in handy in large rooms or those with celebrity speakers. The audience can chime in through the chat function.

But, of course, moderation is key here. Clubhouse has added some safeguards for creators to keep these rooms safe. Creators can appoint moderators to delete messages and kick out any disruptive user. You can also report messages that violate Clubhouse's user guidelines. Or you can choose not to enable the feature. You can opt out of the in-room chat when creating a room. This written chat log can also be saved when you record your room's audio.
