Harley-Davidson launches LiveWire Del Mar electric motorcycle

Harley-Davidson's newest electric motorcycle might be its most affordable one yet. The Harley-Davidson LiveWire Del Mar is expected to get a retail price of US$15,000. A "Launch Edition" version was available for pre-order at US$17,699. Those 100 units sold out almost instantly.

The LiveWire Del Mar features a 60kW motor that can accelerate from zero to 60 miles per hour in under four seconds. It's built on the brand's new Arrow platform. Its 21700-format battery is housed in a structural case that doubles as part of its frame. This design allows its weight to be reduced. It only gets a handful of components to lighten the weight, making it 25% lighter than the LiveWire One.

It is expected to travel approximately 100 miles on a single charge. It has built-in GPS and cellular connectivity to allow Harley to roll out new features and improve its performance through over-the-air updates. Unfortunately, if you're looking for DC fast charging, that isn't available here. It is limited to Level 1 and 2 charging.
