Hisense’s AR HUD: A laser projector for your car
In-car technology is becoming more amazing every day. Hisense, a company that makes TVs and other electronics, has a new product that will blow your mind. It’s called the AR Heads-Up Display, a laser projector that can create an augmented reality (AR) experience on your windshield.
But that’s not all. The AR Heads-Up Display can also project movies on the sides of your car, thanks to its multi-directional design. You can enjoy your favourite films while your car is parked or let your passengers watch them while you drive.
Hisense is not the first company to use projection technology in cars. Kia and Audi have similar features that show information like speed, traffic signs, and navigation on the windshield. However, Hisense’s AR Heads-Up Display goes a step further by creating a virtual cockpit with holograms and Tri-Chroma triple-laser projections. These technologies produce clear, high-resolution images with wide panoramic views.
The AR Heads-Up Display can also work with other parts of your car, such as the headlights and the entry light. The headlights can project your virtual path, safety reminders, or entertainment content on the road. The entry light can display your car brand’s logo or a personalized greeting when you approach your car.
Hisense plans to showcase its AR Heads-Up Display at CES 2024 in Las Vegas from January 9 to 12. We don’t know when this product will be available for actual EVs, but we hope Hisense will partner with an automaker soon. The AR Heads-Up Display is still a concept, but it shows the potential of in-car entertainment systems.
