Samsung brings the Ultra moniker for the first time to its laptop series. The top-of-the-line Galaxy Book 3 Ultra ushers in five new laptops, which were introduced alongside the new Galaxy S23 series. The Samsung Galaxy Book 3 Ultra joins the Galaxy Book 3 Pro and Book 3 Pro 360 in sporting the new Dynamic AMOLED 2X screen featuring tech lifted directly from Samsung's premium smartphones. The Pro 360 is the only one to get touch input, but all three feature a 120Hz refresh rate, 2,880 x 1,800 resolution, 120 percent of the DCI-P3 gamut, and DisplayHDR True Black 500 support.
The 16-inch Galaxy Book 3 Ultra is equipped with the best features among the bunch. It runs on up to a 13th-generation Intel Core i9 processor, NVIDIA's GeForce RTX 4070 graphics, up to 32GB of RAM, and 1TB SSD with an expansion slot. You can use this as a gaming or media editing machine. It also features a 1080p webcam, an AKG-tuned quad-speaker array with Dolby Atmos surround support, and multiple ports including two Thunderbolt 4 ports, one USB-A port, a microSD slot, a headphone jack, and an HDMI port.
Even with all that power, the Ultra comes in at around 3.9 lbs and measures 0.65 inches thick. It's thicker than the other Galaxy Book 3 models, but it's not too outrageously big.
Samsung touts the tighter integration between the Galaxy Book 3 series and its phones. A new Multi Control feature lets you control your handset right from its keyboard and trackpad. It makes it easy to drag and drop content between devices. And you can automatically upload Expert RAW photos from the phone to edit on Adobe Lightroom on your laptop. The Microsoft Phone Link adds new productivity features, including the option to continue browsing from your computer to the phone or quickly connect to your phone's hotspot.
The Samsung Galaxy Book 3 Ultra gets a starting price of US$2,199 (around CA$2,938). It's currently marked as Coming Soon on Samsung Canada's website, so we don't have the Canadian pricing yet.
