What to expect from iOS 16.4

iOS 16.4 is expected to launch in the coming weeks, and with it comes some of the typical midcycle upgrades. Let's do a quick rundown of what's coming.

  • New emojis, including heart colours, instruments, animals, and flowers
  • Push notification support from websites in Safari
  • Turn-page animation returns for the Apple Books app
  • New HomeKit architecture returns after it was taken out of an earlier iOS 16 version
  • Apple Podcasts and Music user interface tweaks
  • New settings for iPhone 14 Pro's always-on display, including support for Focus mode
  • Content previews in Messages for Mastodon to match a feature available for Twitter
  • Faster 5G for some markets and carriers 
  • Apple Pay comes to South Korea
