YouTube Premium subscribers on iOS get 'enhanced' 1080p videos

YouTube is offering its Premium subscribers more value for their subscription. One of the new features includes an "enhanced bitrate version of 1080p," which is currently only available for iOS and promises "crisper" videos (particularly those heavy on detail and motion). This won't be available on all videos, though. It won't be available on videos uploaded at resolutions higher or lower than 1080p, Shorts, or live streams.

Another perk coming to iOS users is the ability to watch videos with others using FaceTime via SharePlay. Android already has something similar via Google Meet, but that option is available to both non-paying and paying subscribers.

You can now also pick up where you left off on videos across Android and iOS apps and YouTube's desktop site. The site's Premium queuing feature comes to phones and tablets, allowing you to line up videos you want to watch next. The smart downloads feature has also started rolling out. It lets you automatically download recommended videos while you're connected to Wi-Fi. This could be a storage hog if you don't manage this feature properly.
