Google simplifies Call Screen settings on Pixel phones

Google’s Pixel phones have a Call Screen feature that blocks spam and robocalls automatically or manually. On the Pixel 6 and 7 series, Call Screen is automatic and saves you time. Google is now simplifying the Call Screen settings menu by grouping the screening options into three levels: Maximum, Medium, and Basic.

Previously, Google’s Phone app let you choose different screening options for various calls: Spam, Possibly faked numbers, First-time callers, and Private or hidden. Now, you can just select one of the three protection levels for Call Screen. Basic only declines known spam calls. Medium declines spam calls and screens suspicious calls. Maximum screens all unknown numbers.

The new Protection Level menu is easier to use for new users. But it may not please power users who want more control. The change is rolling out slowly to the Phone app. Android Police spotted the change in version v106.0.534575879 of the app.
