Uber launches video ads across its apps, including Drizly
Uber is launching video ads across its apps, including Uber Eats and Drizly, its newly acquired alcohol delivery service. The Wall Street Journal reports that users will see ads up to 90 seconds long while waiting for a ride or order and another personalized ad on a tablet in the car during their trip. Uber says it can target ads based on users’ location, destination, preferences, and history.
Users can opt out of personalized ads but not skip them entirely. The ads will be muted by default, except for the ones on the tablet in the car, which users can mute manually. Uber claims its ads perform 37 percent better than the industry average in terms of viewability.
The ads are already live in the US and will launch in the UK, France, and Australia later this year. There isn't mention of it coming to Canada just yet. It is also unclear if Uber Pass subscribers will also see these ads.
