Volkswagen’s ID.Buzz electric van for North America is bigger and more powerful
Volkswagen has finally unveiled the version of the ID.Buzz electric van designed for North America. And it’s not just a modern Microbus. The three-row design with two extra seats is ideal for road trips and large families, but it also has some upgrades over the two-row model.
The North American ID.Buzz has a larger 91kWh battery (versus 82kWh), a more powerful 282hp motor (versus 201hp) for the rear-wheel drive trim, and a higher 99mph (versus 90mph) top speed. It also offers an optional all-wheel drive configuration with a 330hp dual-motor system.
The interior tech is similar to the two-row model, with a 5.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.9-inch infotainment display. However, the larger van has an improved interface from the ID.7, eight USB-C ports, Level 2 driver assistance, and customizable cabin lighting as standard features.
The three-row EV also boasts the largest panoramic roof of any car in the VW group at 67.4 inches long. It can turn opaque with electrochromic glass. It also has a 110V outlet under the passenger seat area and a 12V port in the cargo space for charging your devices. A nine-speaker audio system is standard, but you can upgrade to a 14-speaker Harman Kardon unit.
The North American ID.Buzz is expected to debut in 2024, but VW has not revealed its pricing yet.
