Threads' first major update brings Follows tab to iOS
Meta has updated its new social network Threads with features that could make it easier to connect with other users and discover new content. The iOS app now has a Follows tab that displays who followed you and lets you follow them back. It also has translations for post text so you can read posts from different languages. You can now subscribe to users you don't follow, and get notifications when they post. The app is also faster and smoother, with some interface improvements.
The update should be live by the end of today (July 18) for iOS users. There is no word on when the Android app will get the same update, but Android users can join the beta program to get early access to new features.
Threads still lacks many features that users want, such as a chronological feed, direct messages, hashtags, a web version, and an option to delete the Threads account. The Threads team says they are working on these features and listening to the community. Meta is in a hurry to improve Threads, as the app's usage is dropping after the initial launch. The company hopes to keep users interested and engaged by adding more features while it plans to expand Threads to more regions and markets.
