How Twitter is locking out users from reading tweets

Screenshot: Android Authority

Twitter has imposed strict limits on how many tweets users can read per day, citing data scraping and system manipulation issues. However, a developer claims that a bug in Twitter’s web app is causing the problem. Users who exceed their quota will see a “Rate limit exceeded” error and cannot view any more tweets.

The limits vary depending on the verification status of the account, but they can be bypassed by subscribing to Twitter Blue. Right now, the temporary limits are set to 10,000 posts for verified accounts, 1,000 posts for unverified accounts, and 500 posts for "new unverified accounts." It's not clear what separates the new unverified and unverified accounts.

It definitely means your time on the social network is significantly cut. It's unclear if seeing the same tweet multiple times count against your post limit or if it counts against your tweets. This "temporary" move has sparked outrage and frustration among users who rely on Twitter for news and information.
