Samsung Galaxy SmartTag 2: What to expect from the next-gen tracker

Samsung is reportedly working on a new version of its smart tracker, the Galaxy SmartTag 2, which could offer significant improvements over the previous model. The device, which helps users locate lost items using Bluetooth and ultra-wideband (UWB) technology, has recently appeared for its Bluetooth SIG certification, hinting at an imminent launch.

According to MySmartPrice, the Galaxy SmartTag 2 has the model number EI-T5600 and will support Bluetooth 5.3, a newer and more efficient version of the wireless standard than the Bluetooth 5.1 used by the original SmartTag. This could mean that the SmartTag 2 will have better battery life, connection quality, and security features.

It is expected that the Galaxy SmartTag 2 will also have UWB support, but it is unclear if it will be available in all models or only in a separate variant like the Galaxy SmartTag+. Rumours suggest it could also integrate with Samsung's SmartThings ecosystem.

However, there are still many unknowns about the Galaxy SmartTag 2, such as its design, price, and availability. Samsung has not officially announced or confirmed the device yet. But it could be unveiled at its upcoming summer Unpacked event, where it is also expected to launch its new foldable phones, the Galaxy Z Flip5 and Fold5.
