Microsoft joins the console customization game with Xbox Series X wraps
Microsoft, which has given away several custom Xbox Series S units in contests, is finally selling official wraps for the Xbox Series X. Rival Sony has been offering custom PlayStation 5 plates for quite some time now (including one that gives a Spider-Man 2 look to the console.)
You can pre-order wraps in two camouflage colours, Arctic Camo and Mineral Camo, or a Starfield-inspired wrap. The Starfield wrap costs USD 50 and will ship in Canada, the US, and Europe on October 18. The camo wraps are USD 45 each and will ship on November 10, except for the Arctic option which is not available in Europe yet.
The Starfield wrap goes well with a themed controller and headset Xbox recently started selling. This new massive Bethesda RPG drops on September 6, so you'll have to wait a few more weeks for the Starfield console wrap if you want to match the game's aesthetic.
The wraps are made of solid core panels with "high-tech fabric finishes." They have a hook and loop system and a silicone design on the interior to keep them secure. The wraps even have small feet on the bottom to help maintain airflow. Microsoft says it designed them to ensure no impact on performance. This isn’t the first time Microsoft has tried console customization. The Xbox 360 had swappable faceplates, but the idea didn’t catch on.
