Duet AI comes to all of Google's Workspace apps

Google’s Duet AI assistant is now available for all Workspace apps, the company announced. Duet is a virtual assistant that can help you with various tasks in Google apps, such as creating slides, charts, images, summaries, and more. It can also be a creative partner, generating email responses, grammar checks, and other content. Duet combines the helpfulness of Clippy and the creativity of ChatGPT.

Duet also offers app-specific features, such as AI-enhanced lighting and sound in Meet and automatic thread summaries in Chat. However, Duet is not cheap: Google charges USD 30 per user for large organizations, matching Microsoft’s Copilot AI system that works with Office apps. Both tools are new and expensive, and their AI models are not flawless.

Workspace users will see Duet in most of their apps, either as a menu or as an in-app helper. Google wants to promote its new features, even if they annoy some users. Duet is Google’s direct challenge to Microsoft in the office suite market, where both companies see AI as a game-changer.
