Meet Ultrahuman Home: A smart wearable maker’s entry into the smart home market

Ultrahuman, an Indian startup that makes smart wearables, is entering the smart home market with a new device called the Ultrahuman Home. This device can track the “health” of your home by measuring various factors like light, air quality, noise, humidity and smoke. It can also give you tips on how to improve your environment through the Ultrahuman app.

The Ultrahuman Home is a sleek, square gadget that looks like a Wi-Fi router or an Apple TV. It has sensors that can monitor the conditions of your room and send you data and insights on a new “home” tab in the app.

The device can work with the Ultrahuman smart ring, which tracks your fitness and wellness and gives you personalized lifestyle advice. By combining the data from both devices, Ultrahuman can give you more accurate and tailored suggestions for improving your health and well-being.

The Ultrahuman Home can also connect to other smart home devices in the future, according to the company’s CEO and founder Mohit Kumar. This way, it can automate some actions to optimize your environment, such as adjusting the air conditioning to help you sleep better.

The Home is designed to be a static device that monitors one room at a time. If you want to cover your whole home, you will need more than one device. But most users will probably choose to monitor the room where they spend the most time, such as the bedroom or the home office.

The device also has some privacy features, such as a hardware button to turn off the microphone and an airplane mode to turn off the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. The device does not upload any sound data to the servers, according to Kumar.

The device is being showcased at CES this week and will start shipping in July. It costs US$349 (around CA$467) and does not require a subscription.
