Samsung unpacks the Galaxy S24 and S24+

Samsung unveiled its new Galaxy S24 and S24+ smartphones at its Unpacked event on Wednesday, boasting some impressive features and enhancements over the previous generation. The most notable innovation is the inclusion of generative AI capability on the device, like with the Galaxy S24 Ultra.
There are larger and brighter displays on both phones. The S24 has a 6.2-inch screen, and the S24+ has a 6.7-inch screen. Both come with a maximum brightness of 2,600 nits. The S24+ gets upgraded to a Quad HD resolution, while the S24 retains a Full HD+ resolution.
The phones are powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, promising faster and smoother performance and supporting ray tracing. The phones also have a larger vapour chamber, two extra layers of thermal interface material, and a graphite sheet to keep them cool and efficient.
The S24 comes with 8GB of RAM and 128GB or 256GB of storage, while the S24+ comes with 12GB of RAM and 256GB or 512GB of storage. Both phones get slightly larger batteries than their predecessors, with the S24's 4,000mAh battery and the S24+'s 4,900 mAh battery. Both get 5% better battery efficiency thanks to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. The S24 supports 25W wired charging, while the S24+ supports 45W wired charging. They also support 15W Qi wireless charging and 4.5W reverse wireless charging.

The S24 and S24 Plus have the same camera setup as the S23 and S23 Plus, with a 50-megapixel main camera, a 12-megapixel ultrawide camera, a 10-megapixel 3x optical zoom camera, and a 12-megapixel selfie camera. However, the cameras have been improved with new AI features, such as noise reduction, object recognition, and low-light photography.
Samsung also increased the amount of recycled materials used in the S24 series. The batteries in the S24 Plus have up to 50% recycled cobalt. These phones also come with 100% recycled rare earth elements, 40% recycled steel in the speakers, and 100% recycled paper material for the packaging.
You can get the Samsung Galaxy S24 and S24+ in Onyx Black, Cobalt Violet, Marble Gray, and Amber Yellow. Samsung is also offering some online exclusive colours in Jade Green, Sandstone Orange and Sapphire Blue.
The Samsung Galaxy S24 gets a starting price of $1,099.99, while the Galaxy S24+ gets a starting price of $1,399.99.
