Zoom's Apple Vision Pro app shows facial expressions via digital avatars
Zoom is introducing innovative features for Vision Pro headset users, including the use of the Apple headset's Persona feature. Persona lets you create lifelike digital avatars that mirror facial expressions and hand movements in real-time.
You can present yourself as your dynamic Personas during Zoom and FaceTime calls. So, even if you aren't using a traditional webcam, they'll get to see your reactions. Zoom is among the first major third-party apps to leverage this cutting-edge technology, with Microsoft Teams and Cisco Webex slated to follow suit.
Exciting developments are on the horizon for Zoom users, too. It plans to roll out additional features this spring. You can soon share 3D object files and view them in a virtual space through Vision Pro. Team Chat and real-world pinning allow you to place up to five meeting participants within the virtual space to make you "feel more connected to the people in the meeting."
Features like 3D object sharing hints at the potential for Vision Pro to become a versatile platform for entertainment and collaboration. And it's intriguing to see how third-party companies like Zoom are approaching this new mixed-reality headset.
