Onyx teases large Boox Note Max e-ink tablet
Onyx is introducing one of its largest writing e-ink tablets, the Boox Note Max. It's a 13.3-inch tablet, making it nearly the size of an A4 sheet of paper. At US$650, it's one of the more, if not the most, expensive tablets of its kind. However, its edge over its competitors like the reMarkable 2 and Amazon Kindle Scribe is that it is easier to install third-party apps because it doesn't run a custom-built operating system with limited capabilities. The Boox Note Max has an Android 13-based OS paired with an unspecified 2.8GHz octa-core processor, 6GB of RAM, and 128GB of storage.
As an e-ink writing tablet, the Boox Note Max has a paper-like coating on the screen to make it feel like you're writing on a piece of paper. It comes with an E Ink Carta 1300 screen with 300 pixels per inch and support for Onyx Boox "Super Refresh" technology, which allows you to choose between image quality or higher-motion graphics for smoother scrolling. This tablet supports a pressure-sensitive pen digital pen and a magnetic keyboard.
One other boon of this tablet is it features a slim profile, coming in at just 4.6mm thin. While we have a price for the Boox Note Max, Onyx hasn't revealed availability yet.
