Virtua Fighter might finally be making a comeback. Justin Scarpone, Sega's global head of transmedia, dropped news about a new game in the franchise during an interview with VGC.

"We have a suite of titles in development right now that fall into that legacy bucket, which we announced last year at The Game Awards," he said. "Crazy TaxiJet Set RadioStreets of RageShinobi, and we have another Virtua Fighter being developed. And so all that's very exciting."

While most of these titles were showcased during The Game Awards, Scarpone's mention of Virtua Fighter is news. The last numbered entry for the series, Virtua Fighter 5, came out in 2006. And there have been remasters like Virtua Fighter 5 Ultimate Showdown in 2021 but there hasn't been a new game in almost 20 years. So, now we are waiting with bated breath for what will become of this classic fighting game.
