Apple Intelligence delayed, will reportedly arrive in October update
Apple's highly anticipated AI features, collectively known as Apple Intelligence, will not be included in the upcoming iPhone launch in September. According to multiple sources, the tech giant plans to release the AI capabilities through a software update in October.
While Apple is set to introduce Apple Intelligence to developers this week with the iOS 18.1 and iPadOS 18.1 betas, the service will be exclusive to devices equipped with the A17 and M series chips.
Certain older models, including the iPhone 15 Pro, 15 Pro Max, and specific iPad Pro and iPad Air tablets, will also receive the AI features.
The delay comes amid regulatory challenges in the European Union. Apple has cited concerns over data privacy and security in response to the EU's Digital Markets Act, which mandates interoperability between different platforms. As a result, Phone Mirroring, SharePlay Screen, and Apple Intelligence will not be available to EU users in 2024.
