EcoFlow made a solar-powered hat that works as a power bank
EcoFlow might be known for its portable power stations, but it is entering the fashion space—at least if you consider big, floppy hats fashionable. The EcoFlow Power Hat is a wide-brimmed sun hat embedded with solar cells that can charge your smartphone or other small tech accessories.
According to EcoFlow, the Power Hat can recharge a 4,000mAh smartphone "in as fast as 3-4 hours." It won't break charging speeds, but if you're looking to slow charge your device while outdoors, here's an energy-independent solution.
The solar cells on the Power Hat are made from a thin, flexible material called passivated emitter and rear contact monocrystalline silicon. It provides approximately 12-watt charging via USB-A and USB-C connectors hidden on the underside of the brim.
The Power Hat is IP65 rated, meaning it's dust-proof and can withstand water jets from any direction. You still probably wouldn't want to get its ports wet, just in case. The hat itself weighs 370 grams and it comes in two sizes. The smaller one is adjustable between 22 and 22.8 inches, while the larger one is sized at 23.2 to 24 inches.
The EcoFlow Power Hat retails for CA$159. But it's on sale for CA$89. It's currently sold out, but you can sign up to get alerts for its next drop. Shipments for the pre-orders are expected to start at the end of September.
