In an unexpected move, Google is now rolling out its newest and "most intelligent" AI model, Gemini 2.5 Pro (experimental), to all free Gemini app and website users. This comes just days after its announcement as a premium feature for Gemini Advanced.

The experimental model, with features like app integrations and file uploads, is already live on the web and is coming soon to mobile apps. Google aims to quickly get its AI into more hands for testing.

While the future of the stable Gemini 2.5 Pro for free users remains uncertain, this move marks a significant expansion of AI accessibility, building on recent additions of other features to the free tier. Previously, lower-tier models were expected for free users. The primary benefits for paid subscribers currently include a larger context window and higher usage limits.
