Apple's chief people officer departs company after less than 2 years

Apple's Chief People Officer Carol Surface departs the company after less than two years since she came on board. Surface joined Apple in February 2023 and it's unclear why she is leaving. However, it's a notable departure since most senior executives at Apple stay longer.

Surface was brought on when Apple split its main human resources role from retail last year. Her role was created when she joined Apple, and she reported directly to CEO Tim Cook. Deirdre O'Brien, who had been handling retail and people (HR), transitioned to overseeing retail. However, with Surface leaving, O'Brien will once again oversee both departments.

Google Messages teardown shows privacy settings for Profiles

Screenshot: Android Authority

Google's potential new feature for its Messages app involves discoverability through its Profiles feature. A new code teardown shows that possible privacy options are available. You get the ability to show or hide your profile photo and show your name or a nickname if you prefer. You can also decide to only show your name and picture to people you message, your contacts, or to no one at all.

Announced last year, Profiles allows you to make yourprofile/account discoverable on the platform. It also gives you the option to upload profile photos. It suggests Google is still trying to revive its dreams of a social media platform after Google Plus crashed and burned. But it hasn't widely rolled out the feature yet so it's unclear how these privacy options and the feature itself will be used on the messaging platform.

Report: Samsung to launch a Galaxy Z Fold6 'Special Edition' next week

Photo: Android Headlines

Samsung is supposedly going to launch a "Special Edition" version of the Galaxy Z Fold6 as soon as next week. This thinner version of the book-style foldable has been rumoured for a while. But we haven't heard any launch details until now. Financial News, a South Korean publication, reports that the Galaxy Z Fold6 will launch on October 25.

The report reiterates this version will have a thinner 10.6mm profile and larger 6.5-inch and 8-inch displays. A recent device leak showed a new camera module, a gold accent on the frame, and a "brushed" design finish on the back. If it does launch though, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 Special Edition might not be available outside of China.
