Apple final iPod nano and iPod shuffle are now obsolete

Photo: Apple

Apple has added the final iPod nano and iPod shuffle models to its obsolete products list, marking the end of Apple's iconic music players. The company last added new colour options for the seventh-generation iPod nano and fourth-generation iPod shuffle in 2015. And those are the models that are now considered obsolete. Apple discontinued its iPod nano and shuffle line in 2017.

Apple considers products "obsolete" once seven years have passed since they stopped distributing them for sale. When these devices become obsolete, they are no longer eligible for repair at an Apple Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider. (The only exceptions are MacBook battery replacements for up to 10 years.)

How to download the AirPods Pro 2's iOS 18 update

One of the new features we're expecting to get on the AirPods Pro 2

If you want to access the new iOS 18 features on your AirPods Pro 2, the update is already live. You're already updated if you see version 7A294. You can verify this in the AirPods settings on your connected iOS device. Of course, your iPhone must be updated to iOS 18 before you proceed.

If your AirPods Pro 2 hasn't updated, you can initiate it yourself. Listen to music for around 30 seconds. Afterwards, put the AirPods back in the case. If you see that the buds don't immediately disconnect from the Bluetooth menu, that means the update is happening. Keep the charging case closed and near your phone to finish the process. The AirPods Pro 2 will disconnect when the process is over.

With the release of iOS 18, we're expecting some new features to hit AirPods—specifically, the new AirPods 4 (with and without Active Noise Cancellation) and the AirPods Pro 2. They will get new ways to interact with Siri, improve call quality, and boost your mobile gaming capabilities.

They are getting Siri Interactions. It allows you to just nod or shake your head to respond to Siri prompts or questions. For example, if you want to answer a call, reply to a message, or check your notifications, you can just do the gesture.
