One of the worst kept secrets in technology, as of recent, has been that Samsung wants to venture into the world of 'wearable technology' with what was purported to be the "Galaxy Gear" line of devices. Well, it turns out Samsung is so excited to launch the line, that their own can't even keep it a secret anymore. In an interview with Korea Times, Lee Young-hee, Samsung’s EVP of mobile business, stated:
"We will be introducing a new wearable device concept called Galaxy Gear at our own event in Berlin on Sept. 4. The new device will enhance and enrich the current smart mobile experience in many ways. It will lead a new trend in smart mobile communications.”
The Galaxy "Gear" will be targeted specifically at young "on the go" professionals and will be available in a plethora of colors. Features of the watch include: 2.5-inch OLED full colour display (320 x 320 resolution), touchscreen gestures and accelerometer, dual-core 1.5GHz Exynos 4212 processor, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC.
Note that the image above is just a depiction of what the device will look like, not final product. Samsung has also stated that the "Gear" watch will not have a flexible display.
