Apple tests out ‘Find My AirPods’ feature on iOS

Now it’s becoming clear why Apple banned a certain app built to help find its wireless earbuds. Apple is building the feature into iOS. The latest beta version of the mobile operating system now has the “Find My AirPods” feature. It’ll help you locate the misplaced AirPods in a few ways: it’ll either ping them via Bluetooth, within a range of around five to 10 feet, to a device connected to the same iCloud account the AirPods are registered; or show you a map where the AirPods were last connected via Bluetooth; or the app can make the AirPods play a sound. If you’re using the beta version of iOS, you should have access to this feature and hopefully won’t ever lose your AirPods again.

Apple's latest commercials give the AirPods some love

By Gadjo Cardenas Sevilla

Apple's most innovative product for 2017 are the AirPods and here there are a series of advertisements showing what these tiny wonders can do. The ads show some of the key features of the AirPods (easy to pair to iPhones, they don't fall off even if you moonwalk on walls and they sound pretty good). I ordered my personal pair AirPods as soon as they were made available and one month in, they're still the accessory I use the most and have become one of my favourite Apple products, ever. They motivate me in the gym, they pair to my iPhone, Surface Book, iPad and even Apple Watch, battery life has been very good and sound is A+.

The othe Apple AirPod ads can be found here and here.

Review: Apple AirPods

By Gadjo Cardenas Sevilla

I would say that Apple has had two major innovations for 2016. The first would be TouchBar on the new MacBook Pros and the second are the Apple AirPods.

The TouchBar, I hear, was actually in development for many years with the price of OLED touch panels a huge factor in integrating it into the MacBook Pros. The AirPods, which are a culmination of various Apple technologies and the biggest answer to the, “why get rid of the headphone jack?” question remind us why Apple shouldn’t be counted out of the innovation game.

An ideal companion to the iPhone 7 (which has no headphone jack but ships with Lighting earbuds as well as an adaptor), AirPods offer 24-hours of mixed use, have accelerometers and sensors that can determine when they are being worn plus they have beamforming microphones for enhanced voice quality. Note that AirPods will be made available in limited quantities as production ramps up. Hit jump for details.
