Android N will reportedly bring '3D Touch' to Android handsets

Android users with a bit of iPhone 6S FOMO (Fear of Missing Out) will be happy to know that the '3D Touch' feature is part of the new Android N OS, at least for upcoming handsets that can support the feature. Similar to the 3D Touch that is one of the key features on the iPhone 6S, additional pressure on the display will invoke secondary menus and options which can make it easier to get to functions of certain apps without necessarily having to open those apps.

Expected to be announced at Google I/O 2016, the new feature will enable more efficient access to apps and their features when enabled.

Android N Developer Preview rumoured to be coming to non-Nexus devices

It might happen that you can try out the Android N Developer Preview on your non-Nexus smartphone. The preview is currently only available on Google’s Nexus phone, as the case has been in the past, but it looks like that might change. Well, if the “hints” discovered by some users are any indication. There is supposedly a bit of text found in a hidden HTML code on the Android N Preview site that shows the “What’s New” section. Indicated there is support for more devices, including those made by OEM partners.  Of course, you have to take this information with a grain of salt as Google hasn’t confirmed any of these. But if it were true, would you be interested in trying it out?

Android Beta Program is now live

With the Android N developer preview out, Google has also launched a new Android Beta page for developers or even curious users to try out Android Beta Program and get OTA updates for Android N. Currently, the beta is open to users with a Nexus 6, Nexus 9, Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, Nexus Player, and Pixel C. It's being reported that even Android One phones might be added into the mix in the future.

If you sign up for the program, it's said you'll get the update up to 24 hours after they're released. Of course, we have to warn you that these are unstable Android builds being installed into your device so might want to hold off using your main phone for this one.
