Android N gets its name

This has probably started to show up on your feed. Android N is now Android Nougat. Aside from that, it also gets its new version number. It’s now also known as Android 7.0. You get to see the new Nougat statue at Google’s HQ in the video above. You’ll also some of the suggestions people gave when Google told people they could suggest a name for the new mobile operating system.

Android N may have found its name

Google has been asking for suggestions for Android’s upcoming version. But it might seem like they’ve already found a name. An Easter egg found in the latest developer preview version of Android N shows its new name: Android Namey McNameface. Android Vice President Dave Burke joked about this at Google I/O, so we’re not surprised the cheeky devs at Google decided to put this in the beta. Yes, this isn’t the final name (or could it be?) for Android N but we just have a bit of a wait until Google makes Android’s new name official.

Google makes Android N preview available for developers

While we expect Google to feature Android N extensively during Google I/O, developers and intrepid enthusiasts now have the opportunity to try and get up close and personal with the latest, greatest new Android OS. Open for Nexus devices, the Android N preview images are easily installable directly on supported devices. If you have a Nexus 6P, Nexus 5X, Nexus 6, Nexus 9, Pixel C or a Nexus Player and are okay with potentially glitchy or unfinished software, you can go ahead and give the developer preview.

Google Camera’s update brings Android N Developer Preview features to Play Store

If you use the Google Camera app, then you’re in for a treat. The company’s own camera app gets a new update that matches the features seen in the Android N Developer Preview to the app available on the Google Play Store. What are the new features? You can now capture stills while shooting raw videos. There’s an additional shutter button added in for this feature. The slow motion feature isn’t as easily accessible in video mode either. You now have to access it from the pullout menu. There are also new buttons and icons including the one for the shutter button and the toggle for switching between front- and rear-facing cameras.
