Android 8.0 Oreo is now rolling out to the LG V30 in Korea

In its home country, LG started the public beta test of the Android 8.0 Oreo for the V30 a month ago. Now, it looks like the final build is ready for primetime, as LG just announced. For those in South Korea that haven’t gotten the update yet, LG says you can download LG Bridge from the company’s site and sideload the update from there. As for when the update is coming to other countries, there isn’t an official announcement when that is happening just yet. There isn’t any official word also if Project Treble also didn’t make the cut just like with the public beta version.

ASUS ZenFone 4 expected to get Android Oreo update this month

We’ve seen leaked screenshots of Android Oreo for the ZenFone 3 and 4 a week ago and now it seems that does signal that the update is coming sooner. An ASUS forum moderator that goes by the handle Green1_ASUS has all but confirmed that the ZenFone 4, specifically the ZE554KL. According to the post, which was originally written in Chinese and translated, “Hi andymazda, ZE554KL is currently expected to provide upgrades in December Android O…”

If this is true, then ZenFone 4 users will gain access to many Android 8.0 features like picture-in-picture mode, notification channels and dots, smart text selection, and many more.

Android Oreo update for Samsung Galaxy Note8 Verizon version leaks online

For Galaxy Note8 users, the wait for the Android Oreo might not be that long. A leaked version of the Android Oreo over-the-air update for the Samsung flagship phablet shows up online, but it’s specifically for the Verizon version in the US (SM-M950U). It does suggest, though, that we might expect the official update to come out soon. It can’t be said what version of the update this is but according to GSMArena it doesn’t seem like the final build. It does run on Android 8.0.0 along with Samsung Experience 9.0. It’s supposedly working fine for some Reddit users but it, of course, comes with the usual word of caution when it comes to flashing a build found online and installed on your phone.

Screenshots show Android Oreo might be heading to the ASUS ZenFone 3 & 4 soon

Taiwanese company ASUS has promised it would be bringing Android Oreo not just to its current generation ZenFone 4 line but also to its predecessor. They didn’t specify though when the updates will be coming. ASUS ZenFone Blog obtained screenshots though that show what the ZenUI will look like with Android Oreo. It’s not much different with how the current ZenUI looks like but you get a new pull-down notification shade and icons in the settings menu. We can’t say yet what else they plan to add but we can expect the update to bring features like better background app management and picture-in-picture mode. ASUS has promised it’ll cut back on bloatware with Android Oreo, by how much we can’t say yet. For now, we have to wait for the update to come.
