Volkswagen is getting in on the connected car game by using both Google's and Apple's platforms. Apple's CarPlay and Google's Android Auto will both be available later this year. These platforms will work on their MIB II dash electronics, which was launched in some countries last year and will come to the US and Europe later this year. There isn't a specific date for the launch yet but the dashboard will also support MirrorLink, a technology supported by Sony.

With Spotify making its official debut here, here’s one more device you can use it on: Apple’s CarPlay units. Spotify updated its iOS app to add support for CarPlay system. So, once these units arrive, you’d get access to millions of songs right from your car’s dashboard. It joins music apps like Stitcher, iHeartRadio, and Apple’s Beats Music that support the automotive version of iOS.
The iOS version of Spotify also now supports Quebecois and Swedish and fixed a few bugs for iOS 8.

Since not everyone can afford a new $300,000 Ferrari FF, Pioneer Corporation is confirmed to bring to market one of the first aftermarket in-dash car multimedia systems to provide Apple CarPlay, allowing consumers the ability to upgrade the vehicle they already own to the smarter, safer and more fun way to use iPhone® in the car. CarPlay compatibility will be available in early summer 2014 via a firmware update to the five 2014 NEX in-dash multimedia receivers.
