New iOS 13.4.5 beta lets you share Apple Music songs on Instagram, Facebook Stories

Apple Music looks to be getting a feature similar to what you can do to Spotify. The first beta of iOS and iPadOS 13.4.5 suggests that Apple's streaming music service will let you share songs on Instagram and Facebook Story. When you tap on the Share button and select the social media apps, you'll be able to generate a Story post with the song title, artist, and album art. And if other people with Apple Music apps and subscriptions tap on the song, it would allow them to listen to the song on their devices. Spotify has implemented this feature for a while already, and we expect the Apple Music version to behave the same. The feature appeared in beta, though, so don't expect it to be widely available just yet.

Apple CarPlay now supports third-party maps on its dashboard

Thanks to iOS 13.4, Apple CarPlay gets third-party map integration in the dashboard. Apple's in-car interface supports different apps on its dashboard to work side by side. But for navigation, Apple Maps was your only option until this update appeared. Now, apps like Google Maps and Waze can be used on the dashboard's split-screen option.

Apple has been working on improving its own Maps app, but a lot of people still prefer Google's options and other third-party map apps. This inclusion will help make CarPlay more useful to more users. iOS 13.4 also brings in-call information on the CarPlay dashboard.

Google Chrome 78 on iOS 13 now supports system-wide dark mode

Browsing through Chrome in the middle of the night on your iPhone will no longer burn your retinas. Version 78 of the browser now supports iOS 13's system-wide dark mode, which means if you have the feature enabled, Chrome will follow suit. However, Google's take on the dark theme isn't a real black background. Instead, it brings a grey background colour throughout the interface. Sites that support dark mode will change as well.

Another change this update brings is the new card-like interface for sections like Bookmarks, History, Recent Tabs, Reading Lists, and Settings. These sections will slide up from the bottom when you pull them up, and you can swipe them away when you're done with them. Chrome now also lets you add a new credit card directly from the Settings page. This update is now available on the App Store.

Monitor your Telus Peace of Mind plans with new iOS app update

Embed from Getty Images

If you have a Telus Peace of Mind plan and use an iPhone, it'll be easier to monitor your data use now. The iOS app has been updated to shows your data use, so you'll know when you've used up your high-speed data and are about to enter throttled speeds. Speeds are throttled to 512Kbps when you've exceeded your data limit. It's still usable for messaging and browsing emails, but you won't be able to stream video without interruptions.
