Canadian Apple Watch Series 4 owners can now use the ECG app, get irregular heart rhythm notification

Here’s some great news for Apple Watch Series 4 owners. You can now use the ECG app and get irregular heart rhythm notifications as part of the free watchOS 5.3 update. Apple has received a Medical Device License from Health Canada for these two features. You can now take an electrocardiogram right from your wrist. This Apple Watch model can capture your heart’s rhythm in a moment when you experience symptoms like a rapid or skipped heartbeat. This in turn helps provide critical data for physicians. At the same time, the Apple Watch can now occasionally check heart rhythm in the background and send a notification if an irregular heart rhythm that appears to be atrial fibrillation is identified. watchOS 5.3 update is now available for download.

Apple watchOS 5.1 update bricks some Apple Watches

It’s always prudent to not update your devices immediately when software updates come out. And that seems to be the case with the new update for Apple’s watchOS platform. The company has already pulled the watchOS 5.1 update, which has bricked some devices after installing it. Some of the users have gotten stuck on the Apple logo as soon as they upgraded to the new operating system. Restarting the Apple Watch and iPhone pairing doesn’t help.

And unfortunately, it seems the only solution Apple has now is sending the units back to be fixed. Not exactly, the best way to start off selling the new Watches or even handling the old ones. According to BBC, one owner has even been told it’ll take the company’s repair staff a week to ascertain if his new Apple Watch Series 4 model needs to be repaired or replaced. It’s unclear how many users are affected by the issue, but this is something Apple has to fix fast.

Nike+ Run Club app is optimized for the new Apple Watch Series 4

The latest update for the Nike+ Run Club now fills in the larger 40mm and 44mm display on the new Apple Watch Series 4 models. Before this update came, the app just ran a smaller version of the app that worked with earlier Apple Watches. This time though, you get to take advantage of things like special Nike watch faces with fixed complications for launching the app. This optimization makes information a bit more glanceable when you run. Make sure you update your Nike+ Run Club app for the iPhone to get access to the updated watchOS version. This new update also brings a new tab to the iPhone for discovering new shoes and sportswear for running.

With latest update, Apple Watch elevates its position as a necessary health wearable

By Gadjo Cardenas Sevilla

The Apple Watch has defied smart watch and wearable conventions to blossom into a vital and necessary option for users requiring smart monitoring. When Apple Watch first came out, it seemed like a solution desperately seeking a problem to solve.

The focus on premium fashion with the Edition blurred the lines even more. Apple has steadily improved and evolved function while retaining form. This means that Apple Watch Series 0 to Series 3 looked identical while adding better performance, water resistance, LTE-data functionality as well as more detailed heart-rate tracking.
