WIndows 8 to feature built-in app store?

The unconfirmed screenshot above from Winrumors reveals a possibly interesting development for Windows 8. A Windows App Store. Looks like there will be an Apps section as well as a Store section where downloaded apps are collected. The mock up shows Office 2010 as one of the downloadable applications. The best thing about built-in App Stores is automatic app updates which will make everyone's life easier.

Tourisme Montréal and Gowalla team up

Tourisme Montréal announced today that it has partnered with the location-based social networking platform, Gowalla, to promote Montréal's neighbourhoods, businesses and attractions. The partnership will allow Tourisme Montréal to create a custom branded presence, making Montréal the first city in Canada to officially enter the fast-growing arena of social check-in networks.

Facebook apps caught farming user information

A recent investigation by the Wall Street Journal revealed that all ten of the most popular apps on Facebook have been leaking Facebook user’s ID numbers (UID’s) to outside advertising and data collection firms. Moreover, three of these top apps, including the hugely successful Farmville, which has 80 million users, are potentially sharing information about users and their friends.
