Microsoft Teams Premium helps keep track of meetings with the help of GPT-3

Screenshot: Microsoft

A new feature coming to the Microsoft Teams Premium subscription service is one of the more useful integrations of OpenAI's GPT-3.5. It's the first more obvious integration of OpenAI's language processing expertise since the company and Microsoft announced their expanded partnership. This updated service will cost US$10 (around CA$13) per month and will automate some traditional administrative tasks in meetings, like taking notes or creating summaries.

Microsoft is calling this new AI-powered feature "intelligent recap." It is powered by GPT-3.5's intelligent recap and can create “automatically generated meeting notes, recommended tasks, and personalized highlights.” It applies even if you don't log on for the meeting.

Google to hold search and AI event on Feb. 8

Google might have an answer to ChatGPT. The company plans to host a search and artificial intelligence event titled "Google presents: Live from Paris" at 8:30 a.m. on February 8. We don't know what Google plans to introduce, but there have been hints that the company might have an answer to OpenAI's fast-growing artificial intelligence chatbot, ChatGPT. Google's parent company Alphabet reportedly signalled an internal "code red" following ChatGPT's launch as it considers it an existential threat to its search business.

There have been rumours that Google is already testing out a few AI tools, including a chatbot called Apprentice Bard. During yesterday's earnings call, Google CEO Sundar Pichai mentioned the company has big plans in AI over the next few months, which it has been preparing since early last year. He stopped short of saying what it was, but he mentioned that they'll let people "interact directly" with its "newest, most powerful language models as a companion to search."

An Amazon Alexa feature can mimic the voice of your dead relatives

Here's one Amazon Alexa feature I don't think I'll ever want to try. Amazon is experimenting with its AI assistant to let it mimic the voices of users' dead relatives. The company demoed it recently during its MARS conference, where they showed a video of a child asking Alexa to read a bedtime story in the voice of his dead grandmother.

Dating app Badoo uses AI to block unsolicited dick pics

Badoo might not be the first dating app to do this. But the company is leveraging artificial intelligence to prevent unsolicited dick pics from men. The "Private Detector" can spot detect intimate pictures like dick pics, nudes, and the like before they make their way to you. The algorithm will initially blur these images, warning you that you've been sent "inappropriate content." It's your prerogative whether you want to view the picture, block it, or report it to the company. The company says it has a 98% accuracy rate.

Badoo's UK YouTube account announced the feature through a spoof infomercial starring rapper Big Narstie, which you can watch above.
