Microsoft limits Bing AI chats to five replies

Microsoft imposes limits to Bing AI chat days after the chatbot seemed to have gone off the rails for multiple users testing the software. Bing chats will now be capped at 50 questions per day and five per session, after the search engine was seen insulting users, emotionally manipulating, or lying to them.

Roblox explores building virtual words with words

Roblox wants to use generative AI in a different way. The platform explores bringing it in with virtual worldbuilding in mind. The company says it's testing it with two different implementations. One creates virtual materials using natural language prompt, like with the car in the video above. And another allows you to create code based on text inputs. Both implementations are expected to roll out to Roblox Studios in the coming weeks.

“… Some creators know how to code, but may have limited experience creating high-fidelity 3D models. Others may be more experienced with model design, but less experienced with code,” Roblox CTO Daniel Sturman wrote in a blog post. “In both cases, we see a future in which even a beginner (such as myself for example – I’m a terrible artist!) can get a running head start as they look to bring their imagination to life in a Roblox experience.”

Microsoft's Tuesday event could detail ChatGPT plans for Bing

What Microsoft Bing could look like (Source: Owen_Yin/Twitter)

It looks like Microsoft wants to get a leg up on Google's artificial intelligence chatbot plans with an event it's hosting on Tuesday at 1 p.m. ET. Microsoft is hosting the event at its campus in Redmond, Washington, with ChatGPT CEO Sam Altman attending the event. Microsoft is expected to talk about how ChatGPT will integrate with Bing.

There were leaks about the social experience last week, showing a new interface for Bing that includes a larger search box for chatting instead of for submitting search queries. This new Bing could do research and handle tasks for people. But since these are rumours, we're still taking them with a grain of salt. We don't have to wait too long to hear more from the two companies, anyway.

Google Bard is its ChatGPT rival

Google CEO Sundar Pichai in his blog post said, "Use Bard to simplify complex topics, like explaining new discoveries from NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope to a 9-year-old." (Screenshot: Google)

Google gave a sneak peek at its answer for OpenAI's ChatGPT. This automated text generation system took the world by storm in the two months since its public beta release. Google calls its long-rumoured chatbot AI Bard, and we expect to hear more about it during the "Google Presents" event on Wednesday. Google CEO Sundar Pichai considers Bard an "experimental conversational AI service. It is built on top of Google's existing Language Model for Dialogue Applications (LaMDA) platform, which has been in development for the last two years.

"Bard seeks to combine the breadth of the world’s knowledge with the power, intelligence and creativity of our large language models," Pichai declared in a blog post. "It draws on information from the web to provide fresh, high-quality responses." Now, it's unclear if it'll result in bigoted or racist responses, as we've seen on other chatbots.
