Bethesda files suit against Warner Bros, says ‘Westworld’ game infringes its copyright

Bethesda Softworks is suing Warner Bros. and Fallout Shelter co-developer Behaviour Interactive over the recently released Westworld mobile game. Bethesda claims it’s a “blatant rip-off” of Fallout Shelter. The game developer is suing for copyright infringement, breach of contract, and misappropriating trade secrets and it’s seeking a jury trial and damages. As elaborated in a suit filed in a Maryland U.S. District Court, Bethesda claims the game based on the popular HBO TV series “has the same or highly similar game design, art style, animations, features and other gameplay elements” as Fallout Shelter. And that Behaviour used “the same copyrighted computer code created for Fallout Shelter in Westworld” down to a bug seen in an early version of Fallout Shelter.

Bethesda launches ‘Starfield,’ its newest franchise in 25 years

One of the latest news out of Bethesda is a new franchise. And it’s taken awhile for them to introduce a new one… it took 25 years, to be exact. Starfield is a single player game set in space. Not much else is known except it has a logo that reminds us a bit of Heroes the TV show. We should be hearing more about the game soon with Bethesda hyping it up.

‘Fallout 76’ is an online survival game set for November 14th release

Bethesda just announced more details about its latest entry into the Fallout franchise. Fallout 76 is going to be an online-based, open-world, survival game where every person you encounter in the game is an actual person. The game is scheduled to come out on November 14^th and instead of pulling hundreds or thousands of players, it’s going to pull in dozens—which makes sense since this is a post-apocalyptic game after all.

Serving as a prequel to the entire series, Fallout 76 takes place in West Virginia and follows survivors of the nuclear apocalypse as they exit bunker, Vault 76. You’ll be tasked to rebuild your town—and the entire country—after Reclamation Day in year 2076. You will be able to take over nuclear launch facilities to launch missiles against rival gangs or unknown territories. There are six distinct West Virginia regions in the game and a CAMP (Construction Assembly Mobile Platform) system is in place to make it easier to build shelters while on the go.

Bethesda releases first trailer for new ‘Fallout 76’ game

We don’t know much about the upcoming Fallout game but we get to see a quick glimpse of it has Bethesda just released the first trailer for the new title. Calling it Fallout 76, the game seems to allude to players most likely being inhabitants of Vault 76, which has been mentioned in both Fallout 3 and Fallout 4. According to Fallout lore, this vault was meant to open 20 years after the nuclear war, which meant it allowed for a far less civilized setting than the ones you see in the previous games where the population had more time to reconstruct human civilization. This means we’re getting a different feel to the game. As the narrator says, “When the fighting is stopped, and the fallout has settled, you must rebuild.”

One other thing that will be different, but this is unconfirmed, that the game will be an online survival role-playing game in the same vein of DayZ or Rust. So, we might not get the typical single player RPG experience this time around. Whether this is true or not, we’ll get to hear more at E3 coming this month.
