BlackBerry first to be given the “Authority to Operate” on U.S. Department of Defense Networks

BlackBerry has been given authority by the U.S. Defense Information System Agency (DISA) the Authority to Operate (ATO) on the Department of Defense (DoD) networks for the BlackBerry Z10 and Q10 with BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10, making it the first Mobile Device Management provider to obtain said ATO.

BlackBerry 10 devices will allow DoD personnel to securely connect to its networks to access data. DISA is now developing the infrastructure to support BlackBerry 10 smartphones on DoD networks with 10,000 BB10 smartphones by fall and 30,000 by the end of 2013.

BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10 gains momentum in North America

BlackBerry announced at the BlackBerry Live 2013 in Orlando, Florida that a number of enterprises in North America have already adopted BlackBerry 10 and BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10 as part of their mobile strategy. Adopters have come from a wide range of sectors, such as banking, retail, tech, and government.

These growing number of organizations include the Canadian Tire Corporation, ING Direct, Ricoh Canada, Canadian Diabetes Association, BMO Financial Group, Torys LLP, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, and New York City Department of Information Technology and Telecommunications.
