All-black BlackBerry KEYone variant leaks

While many like the classic two-tone styling of the BlackBerry KEYOne, it looks like an all-black variant is on the way as evidenced by a leaked photo from Chinese BlackBerry site BerryLink. BlackBerry has always had some interesting and attractive colour combinations. Seeing how popular the KEYone is, it makes sense to have it available in various colours or, in this case, the absence of any colour. Are you feeling the look of this tactical KEYone?

Review: BlackBerry Mobile KEYone

By Gadjo Cardenas Sevilla

It’s mid-2017 and there’s a BlackBerry smartphone that’s turning heads and making waves. The Android powered KEYone brings BlackBerrys bag of tricks to a new form factor, and possibly, a new generation of users.

With sterling build and materials, legendary security and encryption, as well as a surprisingly capable 12-megapixel camera, this is a messaging tool that merits notice.

Like many, I approached the news of the KEYOne with great skepticism. BlackBerry, after all, no longer makes smartphones. They’ve licensed the brand and intellectual property to other companies and TCL's track record with the uninspiring DTEK smartphones cast doubt they could offer anything compelling. Earlier models from this licensee, after all, were rebadged Alcatel smartphones. BlackBerry handsets seemed to be all but lost.

First look: BlackBerry KEYone

By Gadjo Cardenas Sevilla

The first true BlackBerry handset from TCL Corporation is the BlackBerry Mobile KEYOne and it isn't just true to its heritage, it is a remarkably well conceived and executed communicator's smartphone. Built atop Android 7 but bolstered by BlackBerry's secure software systems and appls, the KEYone's build quality is beyond reproach and remind us of truly great handsets from the past.

The KEYone is more than a nostalgia play. Sure the QWERTY keyboard is back and with all the tricks (capacitive touchpad, shortcuts, a stunning 'space' key which is also a fingerprint sensor and a camera button). The body is a mix of satin finished alumunum, dimpled rubber and glass. This is one device that's tall but which isn't slippery.
