If the rumours are true, Daredevil might be the first original Marvel Netflix series to come back as a Disney+ show. Covert Affairs creators Matt Corman and Chris Ord are reportedly being tapped to write and executive produce the show. Signs point to this happening, with Charlie Cox, who plays Daredevil, appearing in the last Spider-Man movie. If you haven't seen the first three seasons of Daredevil, you can watch them on Disney+ now.
We don’t know what the future is for Daredevil but at least we know that its showrunner Erik Oleson is trying to keep it going. Reviews for the third season of the Charlie Cox-led Marvel show has been positive with the story going back to basics, as Screen Rantdescribes, with a deep dive into Matt Murdock’s psyche. And while plots have been wrapped up, fans aren’t ready to see the show go. But with the cancellation of other Marvel-Netflix like Luke Cage and Iron Fist, it reminds us that none of these Marvel shows are safe. Oleson, who took over showrunning duties in season 3, revealed on Twitter that he’s sent to Netflix his plans for season 4. The details obviously haven’t been revealed but at least we know there are plans for another season. And now we can only hope for the best. What do you think? Would you want another season?
Daredevil is making a comeback and it looks like he wants nothing to do with Matt Murdock. The third season of the Marvel TV show just released its first trailer for Netflix and it looks like Charlie Cox’s Daredevil is embracing the dark side. The show’s third season picks up after the crossover mini-series The Defenders, where we have the blind crimefighter team up with Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), Luke Cage (Mike Colter), and Danny Rand a.k.a. Iron Fist (Finn Jones). At the end of the mini-series, it was presumed that Daredevil and former lover Elektra (Elodie Yung) died in a cave-in of Midland Circle. But, as the teaser shows, that isn’t quite the case. But we do see a bloodied Daredevil in a shadowy confessional booth, possibly in the nunnery where his mother Margaret Murdock or Maggie (Joanne Whalley) is.
Cox and Whalley will be joined by returning stars Deborah Ann-Woll as Karen Page, Elden Henson as Murdock’s law partner Foggy Nelson, and Vincent D’Onofrio as Wilson Fisk a.k.a. Kingpin. Wilson Bethel will be joining the cast and is said to be playing Daredevil’s archfoe Bullseye. This new season is said to be drawing inspiration from Daredevil’s “Born Again” storyline, where Kingpin discovers Daredevil’s secret identity and is systematically trying to destroy Matt Murdock’s life. Daredevil Season 3 is set to come out this year but there is no exact release date just yet.
Best to not hold your breath for this one. Daredevil’s lead actor Charlie Cox recently admitted that he has no clue if we’ll be getting another season of Marvel’s The Defenders in our future. The individual season of the different Defenders are being announced but no word yet if we’ll ever see the team-up hit Netflix’s service again. Cox said at the Las Vegas Comic Con, “I have no idea about Defenders. I know that I had a great time doing the first season and I love those guys and I love the work that we did and I love all of their shows.” And while we don’t know if we will ever see the team together again, we do know that Daredevil is coming back and Comicbook.comspeculates this could happen later this year.
